Walking The area offers a network of inspiring paths, spectacular scenery and wildlife including Ospreys,Red Squirrels and several species of Deer. Visitors return year after year for the walking alone. There is a good integrated network with well signposted forest trails and separate mountain bike routes. The area is aptly called Big Tree Country.

Golf.
There is an interesting 18 hole course at Dunkeld with some of the most wonderful views, the new club house has an enviable position with views across Dunkeld and the catering is excellent. St Andrews, Gleneagles, Carnoustie, Taymouth Castle and Rosemount in Blairgowrie are all within reach as are many smaller and interesting local courses.

Gardens.
Many local gardens are open during the summer within Scotlands Garden Scheme. The Beatrix Potter Garden in Birnam is well worth a visit, as is the Scottish Plant Hunters Garden, the Explorers Garden at Pitlochry Theatre and the Hercules Garden at Blair Castle should not be missed ( an 11 acre walled garden that has been restored ).

Shopping.
There is an interesting and unusual range of shops. Going Pottie in Cathedral Street is a must! There are trains and buses to Glasgow and Edinburgh for a different day out.

Arts/ Music
There is plenty to offer, including events at; Birnam Arts, Pitlochry Theatre, Perth Concert Hall and Theatre and many local musical events. The Taybank has many informal folk meetings too. Birnam Institute is well worth a visit for the Beatrix Potter exhibition, interesting shop and good coffee or light lunch.

Castles
Glamis Castle is a firm favorite and Blair Castle and Scone Palace are close.

Whisky Never far away - there are distilleries to visit in Aberfeldy, Crieff and Pitlochry.

Outdoor Activities The list is endless whatever the weather! Canoeing, rafting, climbing, clay pigeon shooting, 4 wheel drive course, quads and some of the finest fishing on local lochs and rivers.

There is a secure store available off the courtyard for bikes, fishing rods, golf clubs etc.


Directions.
Take the A9 north at Inveralmond roundabout on the Perth bypass. After some twelve miles turn right into Birnam and continue through the village following the signs for Dunkeld. Turn right over the Telford bridge and the River Tay into Dunkeld, continue almost through the village, turning left at the sign saying The Royal Dunkeld Hotel. Number 2 Lairds Inn Court is immediately ahead, with access through the gate directly in front of you. It is on a main bus route and within easy walking distance of bus stop. Birnam railway station is within half a mile and collection can be arranged.
